Have you ever had a person pop into your head all of a sudden out of the blue, and then the phone rings and it’s that person?
Has someone mentioned the same person you were just thinking of?
Or maybe you met someone out of the blue who answered a question that you were just asking yourself?
Yes, we’ve all experienced this right? There are a couple of things going on here, synchronicity yes, but has to do with energetic connection.
A basic spiritual teaching is that we’re ALL connected. We’re all one.
Sometimes it really feels like we are, don’t you think? When everything is going just right, the energy is flowing, the synchronicities are happening, for instance, that cute guy in your yoga class moved his mat to be closer to you, you landed that promotion you were up for or you find out that your favorite barista at Starbucks is also a Gemini…
Yeah… we’re all one! Whoo Hoo!
I believe it and have lived by this belief for years, but just to make sure, I decided to do an experiment and have some fun with it!
Last December, I was on my way to Santa Monica, and I passed an exit that I used to get off back in the early 1980’s to go see a friend and coworker, a cute Brit with a cockney accent, Ian.
Ian and I worked together in a restaurant in West Hollywood. He was a waiter at the time, but had developed a love for photography, and I used to go over to his place and he would get some practice in by taking my photos. It was great for me, as I was dabbling in acting and modeling.
The last time I had seen or heard from Ian was in 1992 when he and his wife came to my 30th birthday party. They told me they were moving back to Europe, and since this was before email, skype, & cell phones, I never heard from them again. So, here I was, 25 years later driving down the 10 Freeway, thinking of Ian.
Hmm. If we really are all connected, I should just be able to mentally send Ian a shout out, right?
So I did. I said, “Hey Ian, we’re ALL connected, so, receive this cosmic message I’m sending out to you, and connect with me somehow!
And then… Booga Booga…
Three days later, there’s an email in my inbox. The sender, Ian!
YES!!!! I was fartin’ fairy dust.
It was so amazing..
So being connected is exciting and magical right? Until it isn’t ….
What about those times when you have a sinking feeling that your partner is cheating on you and you find out it’s true, or when your boss yells at you and treats you like you don’t know what you’re doing? Or when a friend “Unfriends” you on Facebook because you voted for the other candidate? ugghh….
In situations like these, we can literally feel the molecules and cells doing a tap dance of fury and frustration throughout our body!
So, what’s happening here?
When we connect with another person, especially romantically we activate an energetic cord with them. As we continue through the relationship every interaction, thought, emotion and feeling is added to the cord.
Spiritual author Doreen Virtue describes it best- “etheric cords act like hoses, with energy directed back and forth between both people”
This cord has the ability to share energy and transmit a high frequency of communication, which may explain why we often feel and connect telepathically to our partners thoughts and emotions.
When the cord is healthy, it can create a vibrant, energetic source exchange but when the cord is unhealthy, it can often lead to feeling controlled or drained in energy.
Most of us will intuitively know how strong our cord is with someone, but if you are unsure, a good measure is how strongly or how often you think or feel towards someone, especially if the thoughts are obsessive, manipulative or fearful.
Some symptoms of heaving cording are:
- Unable to move on, crying a lot
- Unable to stop thinking or obsessing about a person
- Frequent conversations and arguments in your mind with a person
- Obsessively going over what they said in the past, feeling their ongoing judgment or criticism
- Arguments, sometimes daily in your mind with someone
- Temptation to go back to a relationship that does not serve you or makes you sick
- Stalking that person online through social media to find out what they are up to
- Unable to sleep, not feeling at peace
- Wanting to get revenge, or constantly rehashing perceived unfair treatment
We are constantly creating cords with many people but if you feel drawn back to an unhealthy relationship, or want to break negative patterns or addictions, or feel a strong psychic connection to someone that is draining your energy, a cord cutting ritual may be beneficial.
Especially when it comes to relationships, cutting the cord can help break the energetic attachments created and can help you to move on to receive new opportunities in your life.
Cutting the cord can help you recharge your energy, feel a sense of peace, can help you let go and can bring about new, positive opportunities.
And don’t worry, you aren’t rejecting, or divorcing the person by cutting these bonds. You are only severing the dysfunctional, fearful, codependent area of the relationship. How cool is that?
So, how do you cut these cords? It’s super easy!
You can simply call upon Archangel Michael to assist you.
Here is a prayer I like to use when cutting etheric cords. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths to center yourself first.
I now call upon you Archangel Michael to use your beautiful blue sword of light to cut remove, dissolve and transmute the cords from _______
so that both of us may go free from all energetic attachments from now and from the past. I am thankful for what I have learned and lessons given. Please cut the cords of fear that are draining my energy and vitality as I release _________ with forgiveness, peace, love and light. And so it is.
Be silent for a few moments. Inhale, exhale. You might feel the cords being cut of pulled out of you.
You may sense air pressure changes, heat, tingles or other tangible signs.
The person on the other end will think of you without knowing why at the moment when their cords are being cut.
You can also make this into a beautiful ritual. You can set the space with candles, and crystals and whatever you like. I recently did a cord cutting ritual with a girlfriend. It was a Wednesday night. We set up a beautiful altar with candles, crystals, saints and incense. Then we wrote the person’s name down that we wanted to cut cords with on an index card. After calling on archangel Michael to cut the cords, and adding our blessings and wishes for that person, we burned their name in a cauldron.
The person that I cut cords with, emailed me three days later and told me that on Wednesday I popped into his head out of the blue and had been there ever since.
We truly are all connected!
